Viewing multi-page faxes

Problem:

I received a fax a few minutes ago but can only read page 1, How do I get to the second page?

Solution:

The default fax viewer which comes installed on Windows, and most other operating systems supports mult-page TIFF files.

If you are having problems viewing the faxes which have been sent to you, and they are in TIFF format, the most likely reason is that you have installed some software (such as Quicktime) which has associated itself to TIFF format files.

You should ensure that you have a valid TIFF viewer configured on your system and associated to TIFF files

On Unix this could be tiffviewer
On OSX this could be preview.app
On Windows this could be the Kodak Image Viewer
On WinXP and later this could be the Microsoft Fax Viewer

If the above sounds confusing, we strongly advise you speak to your IT department or the company you use to support your hardware and software (or perhaps a Microsoft Help Desk if you are using Windows) for assistance in configuring your computer, etc.

We also recommend customers log into the fax admin control panel and update your preferences to receive faxes in PDF format rather than TIFF. Faxes are not sent in this format by default because you need to install additional, 3rd party, software in order to be able to view PDF files - and until recently there were a number of platforms which could not view PDF files reliably.

To download a PDF viewer visit the Adobe web site http://www.adobe.co.uk/ and follow the links to Acrobat Reader.
